Adeline M. Hink, age 95 of River Falls, formerly of Alexandria, MN died peacefully Saturday, September 23, 2023 at Wellhaven Senior Apartments in River Falls, Wisconsin.

Adeline was born on January 3, 1928 in Miltona, Minnesota; the daughter of Paul and Bertha (Kalpin) Hertwig. As a young lady, she was united in marriage to Roger Hink on January 11, 1948 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Miltona, Minnesota. Together they were blessed with four children; Sharon, Rick, Randy, and Sheryl. In addition to being primarily “Mom” and homemaker, she also had a variety of smaller jobs.  When the children left home, Adeline spent most of her years working as a CNR at Douglas County Hospital until her retirement in 1992.

Adeline and Roger loved to travel. They would enjoy these adventures through senior citizen tours or many trips with brothers and sisters. One of Adeline’s highlights was traveling to Hawaii for her and Roger’s 25th wedding Anniversary. Adeline also enjoyed square dancing, playing board games and playing card games like Whist or a German card game Sechsundesechzig, also known as Sixty-six.  Adeline especially enjoyed the times playing games/cards with her children, grandchildren and the many dear friends she had at Wellhaven. While at Wellhaven, her game of choice was Rummikub which she played with her numerous dear friends she had there. When Adeline wasn’t playing games, she also enjoyed embroidery and reading.  While living in Alexandria, MN, Adeline was an active member of her church community at Zion Lutheran Church and later at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.  She volunteered and helped in a variety of ways at church but you usually could find her in the kitchen with other church ladies cooking or serving at some church function.

Adeline is survived by her children Sharon (Jim) Hauschild, Rick Hink, Randy (Janet) Hink, Sheryl Houchins; grandchildren Jeff Schulke, Becky (John) Haydon, Jim (Dawn) Hauschild Jr., Kris Hink, Zach (Brittney) Hink, Aly (Dane) Mark, Stephanie (Jay) Mollet, Jacob (Mimi) Houchins; great-grandchildren Tyler, Sophy, Taylor, Miloh, Isabella, Samuel, Joshua, Nolan, Adeline; sister Berdeen (Wayne) Benson; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband Roger Hink; grandchildren Danielle Houchins, Cory Hink; siblings Bernetta and Paulvin Hertwig.

Funeral service for Adeline is at 11:00 am, Saturday, September 30, 2023, at Peace Lutheran Church, 2084 County Rd N, Baldwin, WI.  Visitation will take place one hour prior.  Burial is in the Peace Lutheran Cemetery with her grandchildren serving as active casket bearers.

  1. I will always remember celebrating my birthday and Aunt Adeline bringing me either Keebler Coconut Dream cookies or a bag of Skittles as a present. The simple present always put a smile on my face. I will miss being able to talk with her after Mom and Dad passed away. Even if was only for a few minutes it would brighten my day and help ease missing them. I know her and Uncle Roger and my parents are together again.
