Adolph “Lee” Olson, age 84 of Prescott died July 11th, 2023 at the Prescott Nursing and Rehab. Lee was born on March 9, 1939 in Rice Lake; the son of Adolph and Marjorie (Reul) Olson. He attended elementary school in Birchwood prior to graduating from the Barron High School in the class of 58’. He would further his school by taking some course in forestry. As a young man, he enlisted in the Armed Forces where he proudly served in the United States Army. On August 10, 1963 he said, “I do!” as he was united in marriage to Carol Specht at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wood Lake, Minnesota. This union would be blessed with four children Deanne, Brenda, Tom, and Tim.
Lee worked twenty-five years for the United States Post Office. He began as a letter sorter, followed by an inspector. He would retire from the P.O. as Director Of Customer Service. Retirement didn’t last long as he worked locally checking businesses and residences for cross connection controls and backflow preventers assuring the safety of our water from contamination.
Lee was a fairly simple man with a dry sense of humor; some of which he passed down to his children. He enjoyed wood working. Most recently, he took great pleasure in making the grandchildren wood cars. His wood working craft enabled him to help on renovations and additions over the years as well. Being an outdoorsman, he enjoyed time hunting elk, deer, bear, or pheasant.
Lee will remain in the hearts of his wife Carol; children Brenda (Jeff) Pratt, Tom (Maria) Olson, Tim Olson; grandchildren Mitchell Sweet, Corinne Olson, Ashley Pratt, Danielle Pratt, Erica Pratt, Jessica Pratt, ReAnna (Jake) Ganzer, Anthony (Emily) Olson, Bryan (Ashley) Olson, Samantha (James) Clear, Madelyn Avila; great grandchildren Freddy, Jacob, Raylan, Aiden, Isaac, Ethan, Teagan, Parker, Evelyn, Tristan, Morgan; and sister-in-law Sandie Olson. He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter Deanne Sweet, and siblings Arthur, Helen (Bill), and Alfred.
Funeral services were held privately at the St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Prescott. Burial is in the Cottage Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the funeral home. Funeral services entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, PO box 154, Prescott, WI 54021.
I was saddened to hear of Lee’s passing. I didn’t know him well but became acquainted as a customer when he inspected our water systems at home. We met casually a few times and always had good conversations on shared interests. I will miss his smiling face.
