Agnes ‘Ag’ Rauchnot

Agnes “Ag” Rauchnot, age 93 of Hudson WI, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2012 at her home and surrounded by family. Ag was born June 15, 1918 in Saint Paul MN to parents John and Anne (Joyce) Connolly. Ag attended St. Mary’s grade school and Mechanic Arts High School. At the age of nineteen, Agnes met the love of her life, and on November 26, 1938, she was united in marriage to John M. Rauchnot. The ceremony was held at the Cathedral of Saint Paul, and their union in marriage would be blessed with four children.

Agnes and John lived in Hudson, where they had a lifelong investment in the restaurant business, community development and church. Agnes, was a strong, silent force in raising her children, and in owning and operating the many businesses she and John began together. Ag and John enjoyed wintering in Naples FL, and summers at the lake cabin in Spooner WI. Ag also enjoyed time spent with her beloved cat and loyal dog, Maggie and Patrick.

She thoroughly enjoyed the music of giggles that surrounded her during the many years of holiday celebrations in her home with family. She loved to entertain, and above all, loved her family. Ag had a graceful and witty presence that always made those around her feel comfortable. She was a very faithful woman, and devoted much of her daily life to prayer. She also had great fashion in clothing, politics, and sports, and always enjoyed a spirited, playful debate on the matters of all three.

Survivors include her daughters, Marcellaine Madden, Barbara Rauchnot, and Patricia Blummel; grandchildren Michael, Collene, Sheila, Steven, Shani, Gia, Heather, Jessica, and Jonathan; many great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Marcellaine Ellis; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
