Alan Justen

Alan Justen, age 65 of rural Woodville WI, died on Tuesday, June 30, 2015. Al was born October 17, 1949 in Minneapolis MN to parents Leo and Alpha (Hawkins) Justen. Al attended school in Chaska, and graduated from Guardian Angels High School with the Class of 1967. Al furthered his education at the University of Minnesota, where he earned his Bachelors degree in Social Work. Al would be united in marriage to Anita Brummund in 1972. Their union in marriage would be blessed with three children, Emilie, Ben, and Amanda.

Al was a farmer who was known to many. He worked hard on the farm, raising Red Angus cattle and growing crops after 25 years of dairy farming. Outside of work, Al enjoyed woodworking, reading books, music and dancing, canoeing, playing cards and especially coffee breaks with something sweet. Al was truly a family man, and loved being a father and grandpa. He could always be counted on to help out his children or a friend or neighbor in need. He was generous and kind hearted with a great sense of humor and will be missed by many. He passed away doing what he loved, working on a tractor ready to make hay with his family “while the sun shines.”

Al is survived by his best friend and loving wife, Anita; his children, Emilie (Jerrod Johnson) Justen, Ben (Veronica) Justen, and Amanda Justen; grandchildren, Quinn and Alpha Justen; siblings, Judy (Jerome), Lee (Trish), Sue (Jerome), Joanne (Rob), Dan (Mary), and Marilyn (Dan); numerous in-laws from the Brummund family; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 1:00-5:00 pm on Saturday, July 4, 2015 at the Justen Family Farm. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to a charity of the donor’s choice. Cremation services entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home and Countryside Crematory of Baldwin, WI. 715-684-3434
