Alan Spencer Park

d. November 21, 2024

Alan Spencer Park was born on August 18, 1946 in Chicago Illinois to Arthur and Anne Park. Alan passed away on November 21, 2024.
Alan grew up in Illinois and attended Carthage College where he played football. Alan enlisted in the Army National Guard. He came to settle in Hudson in the late 70’s.
Alan loved fishing. Many early mornings, he could be found on a foggy lake with the deer, loons and the bass as the sun was rising. Alan was very accomplished at creating custom made fishing rods. He also worked with Fishers of Men Tournament Trail, Full Throttle, and the Minnesota Adult and Teen Challenge.
Alan had several careers. He worked for companies selling ski equipment, bikes and outdoor gear, often working 70 hours a week. His final job was at Hudson Chrysler parts department, where he made many good friends in the last 25 years.
Alan was a very active and engaged member at Bethel Lutheran Church.
Over the last 22 years, Alan has been a joyful participant or leader in an estimated 100-150 mission trips. Alan has friends across the United States and the world. Alan has volunteered with the Red Cross, Operation Help, Mission Jamaica, Fuller Center Disaster Rebuilders, Praying Pelican Missions, Mission Tanzania, We Do Feet, Feed My Starving Children, Samaritan’s Purse, and the Salvation Army.
Alan has made friends in the many places he has gone for mission trips, which include Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota, North Dakota, Louisiana, Mississippi, Kentucky, West Virginia, Texas, Alabama, Florida, Arizona, Hawaii, Alaska, Jamaica, Haiti and Tanzania. Alan got intensely involved in traveling to the south for disaster response after Hurricane Katrina, but he also helped after fires, flooding, and tornadoes and in building relationships.
Alan’s face lit up when talking about missions, and he was always happily trying to convince others to join. This included the staff in the hospital and hospice as his time on earth grew shorter.
Alan is survived by his sister Andrea (Raymond) Boll. He also has 2 previous wives and 2 stepsons.
Alan has generously set up the Alan Park Mission Fund through St. Croix Valley Foundation. His memorials and estate will go to this fund, where earnings will annually be distributed to Fuller Center Disaster Rebuilders, Praying Pelican Missions, and Bethel Lutheran Church’s Mission Assistance and Scholarship Reserve Fund.
