Albert J. Thron, age 94 of Lakeland, MN, passed away peacefully April 14, 2015 at the Arthur Rose Home in New Richmond.  Al was born September 25, 1920 in Lakeland, MN, the son of Frank Albert and Gladys Lorenzo (Case) Thron.  He was united in marriage on October 11, 1941 in Stillwater to Carol Mack.  Their marriage was blessed with three children, Richard, Lavonne and Shirley.  They shared 61 wonderful years together.  Albert proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII.  Al and Carol owned and operated Mantyla Well Drilling with their children, Richard Thron and Shirley Williams, from 1964 until 2000, in which he retired.  In 2002, Al remarried Lucille Ellingson, who later passed away in 2012.  

Al always had projects in which he was working on.  He had a fond interest in cars, antique gas engines, as well as the intricate work and tinkering on pocket watches and clocks.  He was a life member of the Hudson VFW, Charter life member of the St. Croix Valley Lions Club and member of the Lakeview Cemetery Board.  Al was fortunate to spend winters in Texas, where he treasured the friendships made.  Al had a great sense of humor, and always had something nice to say.  He was particularily admired for his genuine work ethic and always wanting the best for his family and those around him. He had a caring and gracious heart and will be remembered for his honesty and integrity. 

He will remain in the hearts of his children, Richard (Pat) Thron of Stillwater, Lavonne (Evan) Klein of PA, and Shirley (Ken) Williams of New Richmond; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and sister, Darlene DeNucci of Cumberland.  He was preceded in death by his first wife and love, Carol Dorothy (Mack) Thron and his second wife, Lucille Ellingson.  

A visitation will take place 5:00 – 8:00 PM Sunday, April 19, 2015 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 S. 11th St., Hudson, and one hour prior to the funeral at church.  Funeral services will take place 3:00 PM Monday, April 20, 2015 at Faith Community Church, 777 Carmichael Rd., Hudson, with Pastor Kathleen Helgeson officiating.  Interment with military honors will take place at Lakeview Cemetery in Lakeland, MN.  Pallbearers assisting with the services will be:  Carl Henningsen, Gary Sanders, Ed Mantyla, Ken Williams, Marie Nelson and Suzette Tremblay.  Honorary pallbearers will be Hank Thell and Larry Klein.  Memorials are preferred to Walk On, Veterans Horse Therapy.
