Alberta (Nee Thaldorf) Widvey, age 86 of Hudson, formerly of Fountain City; beloved wife of Orlow, died peacefully Wednesday January 5, 2011 at the Christian Community Home in Hudson. Alberta was born in Oak Valley; Fountain City, Wisconsin to William and Edna (Schlawin) Thaldorf. She was raised in Fountain City where she attended high school; what is now UW LaCrosse, to become an English teacher. She married Orlow Widvey at Fountain City, in 1970. Together, they enjoyed their many travels. Her longest years of teaching were in Osceola, Medford, and Hudson. After forty years of teaching, she retired in Hudson. Alberta was a charter member of Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hudson where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She enjoyed her volunteer work with the Phipps Center For The Arts in Hudson as well as the local food shelf.
Left to mourn are her husband Orlow, brothers Donald (Evangeline) Thaldorf, Jerry (Beverly) Thaldorf, Lynn (Janet) Thaldorf, and her faith family at Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church. Preceding her in death are her parents William and Edna (Schlawin) Thaldorf and a brother William Thaldorf.
Funeral service for Alberta will be 6PM Monday January 10th at Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church; 712 Grandview Drive in Hudson. Burial will be in the Wolf Creek Cemetery near Cushing. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church on Monday evening. Memorials are preferred. Funeral services entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson.
