Alice A. Flitter

Alice Ann (Meredith) Flitter, age 89, of Hudson, WI, passed away on October 29, 2023 at Woodland Hill in Hudson, WI, surrounded by her loving family.

Alice was born on January 14, 1934 in Black River Falls, WI to Maurice W. Meredith (of Tioga, WI) and MayBelle (Lightfoot) Meredith (of Fairchild, WI). She graduated from Neillsville High School and went on to attend Luther Hospital School of Nursing in Eau Claire, WI. She was married to John M. Flitter on August 22, 1954, a marriage that was blessed with five children.

Alice was an avid traveler, visiting every state in the United States, every Canadian province, and many countries around Europe. She loved time spent in the garden, and trying new recipes while cooking and baking. She always made a point to bake a homemade birthday cake for each of her children’s and grandchildren’s birthdays. She was a gifted seamstress, loved seeing shows with her family and friends, reading, and watching PBS and cooking shows. Above everything, her family was her pride and joy. She was the happiest when her entire, large family was together, and she could frequently be found cheering on her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren at their many events and games as they grew up.

She is survived by her children: LeeAnne (Weldon) Richert, Douglas (Cindy) Flitter, Linda (Thomas) Redding, David (Mary) Flitter, and Laura (John) Crimmins; grandchildren: Jared (Lisa) Richert, Fred (Melanie) Richert, Jonathan (Stacey) Richert, Timothy (Megin) Flitter, Chadwick (Ashley) Flitter, Jamie Snow, Jill (Bill) Boyd, Kelley (Chris) Goplen, TJ Redding, Jennifer (Jim) Pinter, Mallorie (Brad)Lehman, and Alison Flitter; 23 great-grandchildren; and brother Thomas W. Meredith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John; parents; and sister, Janet Jenni.

A Celebration of Life for Alice will take place on May 4, 2024 at O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 S. 11th Street Hudson, WI 54016. Service will start at 1:00pm with interment to follow at Willow River Cemetery. A visitation with light refreshments will be held from 2:30pm-3:30pm.
