Alice McSorley, Alice Obit

Alice Marie McSorley, age 80 of Hudson, passed away December 29, 2019 surrounded by family at Regions Hospital in St. Paul. Alice was born August 13, 1939 in Eau Claire, the daughter of Fredrick and Alice (Marcotte) Ginder. She graduated from Regis High in Eau Claire. She was united in marriage to Bernie McSorley June 13, 1959 at St. James Church.  The marriage was blessed with three children, nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Alice’s life & family was filled with many beautiful memories. Her devotion and passion as a wife was supporting Bernie through his Navy service years and helped to build and established the McSorley Insurance Agency for forty-three years. She was an outstanding, most beautiful, loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother that has left an undeniable imprint on us all, forever. Her signature stamp of love for the family was making and personally delivering rhubarb crunch yearly for each family member, including grandchildren away at college. She enjoyed and looked forward to: bowling; dancing; the MN State Fair; birthdays; Christmas; and creating the annual family Easter Egg & Scavenger Hunt for the children; family BBQ’s; traveling to her grandchildren’s activities and events; as well as sending care packages for her grandchildren through their college years. Her pride always showed when sharing photos of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren wherever she went. She also enjoyed canning, and providing fresh seasonal vegetables to all her family and friends. She will leave us with her beautiful laugh, tons of memories, and her amazing love for family that will continuously impact each of our hearts.

Alice will remain in the hearts of her husband, Bernie; her children: Karen Larson of Hudson, Marc McSorley of Hudson, and Teresa (Michael) Devine of St. Paul Park; grandchildren: Brock (Laura) Schreiner, Brett (Sonja) Schreiner, Carynn (Andrew) Allison, Bryce Arend, Michael (Sarah Reas) McSorley, Anne (Antonio Kuklok) McSorley, and Philip (Morgan) McSorley, Nolan (Sarah) Devine, Tara (Ryan Boldt) Devine, great-grandchildren, Spencer, Harley June, Brooks, Caleb, Adeline, and Liliane and brother-in-law David Meyer of Eau Claire.

She is preceded in death by her parents Fritz & Alice Ginder, sister Barb Meyer, brother Thomas Ginder, and daughter-in-law Stephanie McSorley

Funeral Service will take place at 6 pm Tuesday, January 7, 2020 with a gathering of Family and Friends from 4-6 PM prior at O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 S. 11th St., Hudson. Memorials are preferred to the discretion of her family.
