Alice Marie McSorley, age 80 of Hudson, passed away December 29, 2019 surrounded by family at Regions Hospital in St. Paul. Alice was born August 13, 1939 in Eau Claire, the daughter of Fredrick and Alice (Marcotte) Ginder. She graduated from Regis High in Eau Claire. She was united in marriage to Bernie McSorley June 13, 1959 at St. James Church.  The marriage was blessed with three children, nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Alice’s life & family was filled with many beautiful memories. Her devotion and passion as a wife was supporting Bernie through his Navy service years and helped to build and established the McSorley Insurance Agency for forty-three years. She was an outstanding, most beautiful, loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother that has left an undeniable imprint on us all, forever. Her signature stamp of love for the family was making and personally delivering rhubarb crunch yearly for each family member, including grandchildren away at college. She enjoyed and looked forward to: bowling; dancing; the MN State Fair; birthdays; Christmas; and creating the annual family Easter Egg & Scavenger Hunt for the children; family BBQ’s; traveling to her grandchildren’s activities and events; as well as sending care packages for her grandchildren through their college years. Her pride always showed when sharing photos of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren wherever she went. She also enjoyed canning, and providing fresh seasonal vegetables to all her family and friends. She will leave us with her beautiful laugh, tons of memories, and her amazing love for family that will continuously impact each of our hearts.

Alice will remain in the hearts of her husband, Bernie; her children: Karen Larson of Hudson, Marc McSorley of Hudson, and Teresa (Michael) Devine of St. Paul Park; grandchildren: Brock (Laura) Schreiner, Brett (Sonja) Schreiner, Carynn (Andrew) Allison, Bryce Arend, Michael (Sarah Reas) McSorley, Anne (Antonio Kuklok) McSorley, and Philip (Morgan) McSorley, Nolan (Sarah) Devine, Tara (Ryan Boldt) Devine, great-grandchildren, Spencer, Harley June, Brooks, Caleb, Adeline, and Liliane and brother-in-law David Meyer of Eau Claire.

She is preceded in death by her parents Fritz & Alice Ginder, sister Barb Meyer, brother Thomas Ginder, and daughter-in-law Stephanie McSorley

Funeral Service will take place at 6 pm Tuesday, January 7, 2020 with a gathering of Family and Friends from 4-6 PM prior at O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 S. 11th St., Hudson. Memorials are preferred to the discretion of her family.

    • I know I’m so late at posting this, but I didn’t know that Alice had passed until this morning. Bernie, I am so sorry for your loss. Alice was an amazing lady. Her laugh is one that I will treasure. I’ll be having a shot of Phillips Blackberry Brandy in her honor tonight! Missing you both! Hugs, Kim from Cellars Wines & Spirits (formerly Hudson Liquor).

    • She did have an amazing laugh. I believe all of heaven will be enjoying that for all of eternity. Prayers, love and hugs to all of you as you walk through this time of mourning. May the beautiful memories be the ones you cling to on a regular basis. She lives on in all of you.

      Much Love,
      LeNae, Rachel and Josh Williamson

    • Bernie and Family,
May God pull you near and give you peace in your time of great loss. And may your warm memories of building a wonderful life together bring you comfort.
      With deepest sympathy,
      Tara

    • Dear Mr. McSorley and family,

And so the number of saints above is increased by one, leaving behind an empty space that will never be filled except through the gift of memory. We celebrate with you your beloved wife and mother’s life and the many lives she touched.

May you miss her deeply, forgive her often, and always claim the best of her in you. Our sympathies, thoughts, and prayers remain with you in your grief even as you reflect on the promises of God to provide a reunion in heaven.

      Warm and cordial personal greetings,

Liz and Dan Bruch (We treasure our times with you at Dibbo’s and the Sports Club and now at the Village Inn!)

    • Wishes and big hugs to the family. Alice was a grand person who loved to laugh and have fun. She will be missed by me and my family. A big heart, a big laugh and always the love. Love you Alice, til we meet again.♥️♥️♥️
