Alice Trahms (DeMotts)

Alice DeMotts Trahms, age 88, of Woodville died Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at the Park View Community Campus in Woodville. Alice was born on June 23, 1929 in Woodville, Wisconsin; the daughter of Leon and Ada (Wooldridge) Spooner. She was raised in Woodville where she attended elementary and high school. She earned her teaching certificate at the Dunn County Normal School and later attended UW-River Falls to earn her bachelors degree. Early in her career, Alice taught elementary school in Turtle Lake and Somerset, Wisconsin and Leavenworth, Washington. However, she will be most fondly remembered for teaching fourth grade at the Baldwin-Woodville School District. She was united in marriage to John DeMotts on March 7, 1958 in Leavenworth, Washington. This union was blessed with six children. Sadly, John would precede her in death from a heart attack in 1978. In June 1983, she married Walter Trahms, who would also precede her in death in 1991.

Alice thoroughly enjoying traveling in her retirement years with groups, good friends and her family. Some of her favorite places she visited were Jerusalem, Alaska, Newfoundland, and North Carolina. Faith and family were first and foremost in her life. Simply stated, she loved being a mom to her children and was all smiles when her grandchildren would visit. She loved cooking and baking as well as smelling fresh flowers from her gardens. She was a devout member of First Baptist Church in Woodville her entire life and served as a church pianist for many of those years. She was ever so proud to help campaign to build the new church.

Alice is survived by her children, Scott (Brenda), Stan (Lori), Brian (Kelley), Rick (Tammie), Ron (Linda); grandchildren, Daniel (Ashley) DeMotts, Cassie (David) Pink, Jessica (Brandon) DeGrasse, Brandon DeMotts, Stefanie (Clayton) Davis, Dylan DeMotts, John DeMotts, Allison DeMotts, Hailey DeMotts; Great-grandchildren, Abigail, Acelyn, Genevieve, and Hudson Pink, Gavin and Gia DeMotts, Evrett DeGrasse, Summer and Jaden Davis; Sister, Lila Spooner; sister-in-law, Bernie DeMotts; many nieces, nephews, and the extended Trahms family.

Alice is preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Ada Spooner; husbands, John DeMotts and Walter Trahms; infant daughter, Vickie Lynne; brothers, Stanley, Clifford (Rosella); sisters, Lerene (Meredith) Miller, and Leona (John) Collis.

Funeral celebration of life for Alice will be 11 AM Saturday, January 13, First Baptist Church in Woodville. Visitation will be on Friday, January 12, from 5 to 7 PM at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Baldwin. Burial will be in the Baldwin Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the First Baptist Church in Woodville. Funeral services entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home and Countryside Crematory of Baldwin. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the wonderful staff at Park View Community Campus for their care during the last years of her life.
