Alvina VanSomeren

Alvina (Vi) Francis Van Someren, age 85 of Edina, formerly of Baldwin  passed away peacefully Saturday, July 26, 2014 in her home of Edina, Minnesota, her residence of 53 years. Vi was born November 17, 1928 in Hull, Iowa. She was joined in marriage to Isaac Van Someren in Vi’s hometown of Baldwin, Wisconsin in 1947. Their union lasted 67 years. Vi was a remarkable woman of God who lived her life constantly and lovingly investing in others. She was adored by her children, in-laws, grandchildren and her 12 great-grandchildren. Vi was a mother figure for more than just her children, and she blessed countless others with her pure and happy spirit. She lived her life with a complete selflessness that was demonstrated in everything she did. Her core interests were her faith and her family. Vi was preceded in death by her son Robert, her daughter in-law Rose, and her grandson Noah. She is survived by her husband, Isaac, and her children: William Dean, Patricia Ann (Rama), Jeanne Renee (Dale), Barbara Kaye (Dean), James Robert (Meghan), and Jeffrey Scott (Elaine). Her grandchildren also bear witness to the noble and inspirational example of her life: Chad, Heather, Lisa, Matthew, Katherine, Amanda, Jenna, Lucas, Isaac, Hannah, Margaret, Benjamin, Josephine, Darragh, Julian, and Shannon. Funeral Service will be 11AM Tuesday July 29th at Calvary Christian Reformed Church, 5300 France Avenue South, Edina, MN. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at church Tuesday morning. Burial will be 2:15PM Tuesday July 29th, Baldwin Cemetery, Baldwin, WI. Memorials preferred. Psalm 121: 1-2, I lift my eyes up to the hills, Where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, The Maker of Heaven and earth. Funeral services entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Baldwin.
