Arlene Canfield

Arlene J. Canfield of Ellsworth, WI, died on Friday, June 4, 2021 at Bayview Health and Rehab in Red Wing, MN. She was 82. Arlene was born September 4, 1938 in St Paul, MN to parents Andrew and Clara (Weber) Krath. Arlene attended school in St Paul, and graduated from Saint Agnes High School.

Arlene worked for more than 17 years with Dopkins Accounting Service in River Falls. On September 9, 1978, Arlene was united in marriage to Norman Canfield. Their union in marriage was blessed with 43 years of love and devotion.

Arlene was self-taught and gifted at crochet. She spent countless hours making pieces to sell at craft shows, creating doilies with her sisters’ names and other unique pieces for those she loved. Arlene loved to bake, and perfected her special recipes for banana bread and strawberry rhubarb cake. In later years, she served as a Eucharistic minister at St Francis Church. Though she and Norm enjoyed an Alaskan cruise, their time was usually spent closer to home to be closer to their family. Arlene loved her grandkids and cherished her role as grandmother. She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.

Arlene is survived by her husband of 43 years, Norm Canfield; her children, Debra Foster, Jeanette Schrandt, Patty (Barry) Brenner, Deb Canfield, Pam Herron, Randy Canfield, and Vicki Canfield; her grandchildren, Angie (Tony) Vodnik, Hollie (Todd) Bakke, Jerod (Lindsey) Huppert, Kyle (Casidee) Schrandt, Jeremy (Mandee) Brenner, Blake (Rachael) Brenner, Brittany Brenner (Jamey Lacey), and Alex Canfield; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; and a great-great-granddaughter due in October of 2021. She is also survived by 4 sisters, 1 brother, and many nieces and nephews. Arlene was preceded in death by her father, Andrew Krath, and her mother, Clara (Weber) Krath.

Services honoring the life of Arlene Canfield will be held at the St. Francis Catholic Church, 231 W. Woodworth Street in Ellsworth. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00pm on Friday, June 18, and then again on Saturday morning beginning at 10:00am. On Saturday morning at 10:45am, Arlene will be eulogized prior to her Mass which starts at 11:00am. The service will be livestreamed to: https://youtu.be/_HAfGfs79WQ. Following services, Arlene will be brought to her final place of rest at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery. Her family will host a luncheon gathering at American Legion Post #204 in Ellsworth. Memorials may be directed to the discretion of her family.
