Arlene E Meier

Arlene Elizabeth Meier, 82, of Prescott, passed away November 1, 2014, at the Prescott Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a brief battle with Cancer.Arlene was born October 14, 1932, in Grange Hall, Pierce County, Wisconsin, to Irvin and Alice (Schladweiler) Wiskerchen.She attended and graduated from Ellsworth High School and furthered her education at Viterbo College in La Crosse. She received her master’s degree in Nursing as a Registered Nurse. Arlene spent her life caring for others as a Franciscan Sister Nurse and her last 23 working years as a Public Health Nurse in Pierce County. She was also a volunteer for Sharing and Caring Hands in Minneapolis and at the Prescott Nursing and Rehabilitation Care Center. On August 27, 1977 she was united in marriage to Howard L. Meier at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Prescott and together they lived in Prescott.She was preceded in death by her parents.Arlene is survived by her husband Howard; one son Joseph and wife Sue; two grandsons, Connor and Tyler; one sister Patricia Wiskerchen; one brother Larry (Diane) Wiskerchen; one niece and three nephews.Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Prescott at 11:00 am Thursday, November 6, 2014 with Fr. George Szews officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at the Hill Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Prescott from 4 – 7 pm with a Rosary at 6:30. Visitation will also be one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Joseph Parish School.Hill Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Prescott is assisting the family.
