Arlene Joan Wangen, age 78 of Woodville, died on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at the Parkview Campus in Woodville. Arlene was born February 25, 1937 in Eau Claire WI to parents Oscar and Helen Marie (Pederson) Thompson. Arlene attended school in Eau Claire, and furthered her education at the Augustana School of Nursing, where she earned her degree as a Registered Nurse. On September 12, 1959, Arlene would be united in marriage to Chris D. Wangen. Their union in marriage would be blessed with four children, and over 55 years of love and devotion.

Arlene spent much of her time baking and canning for her family. She also enjoyed quilting and flower gardening. Arlene loved music, singing in the church choir, and serving others through her faith. Above all though, Arlene cherished her title of “grandma”, and adored the moments spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Arlene is survived by her husband of 55 years, Chris; children, Chrisann (Tom) Rupiper of Appleton WI, Kari Wangen of Woodville WI, Eric (Pauline) Wangen of Baldwin WI, and Sarah (Bart) Heebink of Woodville WI; grandchildren, Stephanie (Luke) Mullins, James (Tracy) Rupiper, Laura (Ken) Schwartz, Ryan (McKenzie) Westforth, Rayna Wangen, Christopher Wangen, and Joseph Wangen; great-grandchildren, Kaley, Audrey, Ruby, Finn, Charlie, Taryn, and Kalli; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services for Arlene Wangen will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, April 29th at Peace Lutheran Church in Baldwin. Burial will follow in the Peace Lutheran Cemetery, with her nephews serving as pallbearers, and Marcy and John Unger as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church, and also from 5:00-7:00pm on Tuesday at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Baldwin.
