Arliss Gould, age 90 of Spring Valley WI, beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away peacefully on August 12, 2024 at Mayo Health Care Systems in Eau Claire WI surrounded by her loving family.
Arliss was born October 7, 1933, to Ben and Gertrude (Allen) Jacobson in Dover Township, Chetek Wisconsin, the youngest of 4 siblings. She married her high school sweetheart, John Gould, on March 14th, 1953. This marriage of 71 years was blessed with 6 children and 8 grandchildren.
She began her married life as a young wife, a loving mother and a wonderful homemaker as she supported her husband during his military service, teaching and coaching careers. Her greatest joy was being a “Mom”. She was best known in the neighborhood as “Mom Gould” when many friends of her children came to play or dropped by for meals, and snacks. She always had a warm smile, and they all were welcome! She was the referee for many nerf basketball games the kids played in her dining room. As her children grew, she began working outside the home as a teller at the local bank. Her clients loved her warm and friendly smile and greetings. Arliss enjoyed playing cards with friends and family. As a member of the English Lutheran Church, she volunteered to work at many funerals and church fair stands over the years. When her children married, and she became a grandmother, she had a new role which she cherished and loved. Her new passion was taking care of her grandchildren. They quickly became her pride and joy, and she loved attending all their school, church and boy scout events. She beamed from ear to ear as she spoke about her grandchildren and loved their calls and visits. She was the most supportive and loving wife, mother and grandmother that anyone could ask for!
Arliss is survived by her husband, John Gould. Six children; Rick (Patti) Gould, Kathy Gould, Karen (Tammy Herbst) Gould, Steven (Nikki) Gould, Gar (Faith Kirsenlohr) Gould, Shelley (Tina Stallings) Gould. Grandchildren: Seth (Yili Ou) Gould, Ashley (Husband, Nick Abramowicz) Gould, Alyssa Gould, Rex (Travis Hayes) Gould, Natalie (Alec Johnson) Gould, Aiden (Nicole Koniewicz) Gould, Mara and Makena Kirsenlohr. Sister-in-law; Gloria Ballou and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings; Elaine (Boyd) Winget, Ben (Goldie) Jacobson, Beverly (Jim) Anderson. Mother and Father In-law, Jack and Agnes Gould, brother in-laws; Kenneth Ballou and Gary Gould and two nephews and a niece.
