Art Koderick

Adolph George “Art” Koderick, age 95 of River Falls, WI, passed away May 10, 2019 at Hammond Health Services. Art was born October 9, 1923 in La Crosse, WI to Bartholomew and Katherine (Heishek) Koderick. After graduating high school, Art proudly served his country for 10 years in the United States Navy. He served in the South Pacific during WWII in a Technical Air Intelligence Unit (TAIU) , and was on the USS Wasp CV-18, stationed in Guantanamo Bay, during the Korean War. Art obtained the name “The Old Survivor” from his childhood, military, and life experiences.

Art was united in marriage to Joyce Pariseau on June 14, 1947. He became a father to, John Koderick (son), as well as Duane O’brien (step-son). Art was self-employed as an auto body specialist for most of his life. Although Art’s military service was over, his story of survival continues as he unconditionally cared for his loving wife, Joyce through her health struggles. After Joyce’s death, Art found a renewed love with the marriage to Marie Louise (Ploumen) Frame on June 27, 1998. They shared 21 years of marriage, and many sweet memories.

Art, “The Old Survivor” was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled Veterans, and the Fletcher-Pechacek American Legion Post 121 of River Falls. Art was a hard worker, who was proud of his family, and loved them well. He enjoyed the peacefulness of the outdoors, and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Art will remain in the hearts of his wife, Marie Frame-Koderick; son, John Koderick, and step-son Duane (Karen) O’brien; daughter-in-law Shirley Koderick; Marie’s children: Gregory (JoAnne) Frame, Edward (Carol) Frame, Patricia (Marcel) Hoaglan, Robert (Melissa) Frame, Michael Frame, and Barbara (Jeff) Haas; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce; brothers, Leo and Frank; sister, Josephine; and his parents.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place 10:30 AM Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church, 211 E. Division St., River Falls, with Fr. Richard Rhinehart officiating. A Gathering of Family and Friends will take place from 9:30 AM until the start of Mass at church. Interment with military honors will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN.
