Arthur D. Jensen

Arthur David Jensen – Born October 16, 1929 in Glenwood City, Wisconsin to Severt and Lorene Jensen, passed away February 1st, 2018. He attended school in Glenwood City up until 4th grade when his family moved to Hammond. He then graduated from Hammond High School in 1947. He went on to go to college for 1 year at the University of Wisconsin River Falls. He then enlisted into the Army in 1948, was discharged in 1949, and recalled again in 1950. Following his service he was honorably discharged in 1952. After his time in the Army he began his career with the St. Croix County Highway Department where he served for 43 years. In September of 1955, Art married his first love, JoAnne Albrightson, and then to their surprise and excitement on September 14th, 1969, their son and only child Steven was born. Art was an active member in many things; he served on church boards, as well as the St. Croix County board for many years with some as a representative. Art also was a township supervisor as well as a township chairman for Eau Galle. He represented the labor union for St. Croix County Highway Department, and was also a member of American Legion Post 432 of Hammond for 58 years. In October of 1997, Art’s first wife, Joanne, passed away. In October of 1999 he then married his second wife, Merlee Bartz-Holman.  He enjoyed driving around the countryside and reading books outside whenever he could. There was always a project he wanted to get started on. He had many good times and years surrounded by family and friends. Art was always steadfast in faith, kind in manner, and generous with his work, advice, and wise words to all he knew.

He is survived by wife, Merlee Jensen; and son, Steven (Robin) Jensen, grandchildren: Brody Jensen, McKenna (Bram) Henke, Griffin Jensen, Madelynn Jensen, Maggie Jensen.; nephews, Doug Jensen of Pensacola, FL and David Jensen of Manhattan, MT; and (sister-in-law) Judy Jensen of Spooner; sisters-in-law, Lucille (Jack) Zignego of Lake Elmo, MN, and Dorene (Walt) Jacobson of Woodville, WI; brother-in-law, Larry (Bev) Albrightson of Woodville, WI; step-children: Andrew Holman of Norway, Richard and Ila Holman of Baldwin, Jerry Holman of Baldwin,  Nancy and Jim Deringer of Spokane, WA, Sue and Marty Mendiola of Pullman,WA; step-grandchildren: Jodie and Chris Tamm of Brillon, WI, Sarah and Mathew Cornell of Baldwin, Krista and Jarod Fox of Prescott, Jimmy Deringer or Spokane, WA., Elise Deringer of Omaha NE, and Jacob Mendiola of Pullman, WA.

He is also survived by many other cousins, friends, and relatives.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Joanne Jensen; parents, Severt and Lorene Jensen; parents-in-law, Joe and Dorothy Albrightson; brother-in-law, Donald Albrightson; brothers, Carl and Peter; and nephew, Donnie.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Monday, February 5, at Zion Lutheran Church in Woodville, with Pastor Keith Anderson officiating, a Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 AM. Interment with military honors will take place at Peace Lutheran Cemetery. Funeral services are entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Baldwin.
