Barbara A. O’Connor

Barbara A. O’Connor, age 81, of Hammond, WI, passed away on June 19, 2021 at Brotoloc Residential Home in Ellsworth.

Barbara was born on March 27, 1940 in Compton, Illinois to Ralph and Mary (Hampton) Swope. Barbara was blessed with four sons Scott, Randy, David and Danny before marrying George O’Conner on May 13, 1972, and together they welcomed their daughter Kelly.

She waitressed at many area restaurants and was custodian at the St. Croix County Courthouse, but her favorite job was being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, fishing, playing BINGO, listening to bluegrass music, and spending every moment she could with her grandbabies.

She is survived by her children: Kelly (Waylon) Blodgett, Scott (Jodie) Arjes, Randy (Bobbie) Arjes, and David Nogal; 8 grandchildren: Amber (Cole) Comers, Nicole Nogal, Kristen Arjes, Crystal (Eric) Vondergathen, Josh Arjes, Peyton Nogal, Zac Blodgett and Kyle Arjes; 6 great-grandchildren: Treyanna Arjes, Arion Latif Raheem, Aron Vondergathen, Rhyli Vondergathen, Balily Vondergathen, and Gracie Arjes; siblings: Linda Brumley, Kay Evans, Janet (Red) Hough, and Larry Swope; along with many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, George; son, Danny Arjes; parents, Ralph and Mary Swope; brothers, Don and Jim Swope; brothers-in-law, Johnny Brumley and Toby Evans; and sister-in-law, Carol Swope.

A Gathering of Friends and Family will be held from 2:00-4:00p.m. on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 1010 Newton St., Baldwin. Interment at Warren Cemetery in Roberts, WI. Memorials to the family are preferred.
