Barbara Aras, age 77 of Hudson, passed away August 8, 2021 at the Hudson Hospital.

Barb was born on June 8, 1944 in Trail City, South Dakota to Peter and Frances (Silbernagel) Mastel. She grew up in the Trail City area before moving to St. Paul, Minnesota and graduating from Our Lady of Peace Catholic School. Barb was blessed with two sons, Jerry and David. She was united in marriage to Thomas Aras on June 4, 1981 at St. James Catholic Church in St. Paul. Barb was a quiet individual, but was always willing to listening. She enjoyed listening to country western music and was fond of anything sung by Elvis. She loved traveling and going for Sunday drives with Tom.

Barb will remain in the hearts of her husband of 40 years, Thomas; son, Jerry (Marusia) Shank; grandchildren, Jerry Jr. and David Shank; siblings, Eileen Tetu, Alvina Pheneger, and John Mastel; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her son, David Shank; her parents, Peter and Frances Mastel; and siblings, Adolf Mastel, Helen Rengel, and Mary Ann Schmidt.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1500 Vine St., Hudson, WI. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Barb’s funeral mass will be livestreamed through the St. Patrick Catholic Church Facebook page. Interment at St. Patrick Cemetery. Memorials preferred to St. Patrick Catholic Church.
