Barbara Charolette Phillips, aged 94, of River Falls, and formerly of Omaha, Nebraska, peacefully passed away on February 19, 2024, at Comforts of Home in River Falls. Born to Richard and Pearl (Speigner) Corbin on September 18, 1929, Barbara’s life was marked by simplicity, dedication, and a deep love for literature.
After graduating from Council Bluffs High School in 1947, Barbara pursued higher education for a few years before embarking on her professional journey. She served as an Executive Secretary for the Federal Court of Appeals for the Nebraska Supreme Court, dedicating herself to her role until the advent of office computers transformed the workplace.
Barbara found solace and joy in the simple pleasures of life, from perusing the daily newspaper to indulging in her favorite TV show, “The View,” and immersing herself in the pages of countless books, with a particular penchant for autobiographies. Alongside her husband, a civil rights attorney, Barbara was an active participant in advocating for social change.
Left to cherish her memory are her beloved daughter, Lynda (Rick Jensen) Phillips, and her cherished confidante, “Aunt” Trudy. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Delmar Corbin, Earl Corbin, and Mildred Corbin.
A memorial service honoring Barbara’s life will be at 1:15pm on March 22, 2024, at Svea Lutheran Church, located at N2610 770th St, Hager City, WI 54014. A gathering will start at 12:30pm until the start of the memorial service.
