Betty J. House, 88, of Prescott, WI died Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at her home.
Betty Jane House was born in Pontiac, Michigan on Easter Sunday April 4, 1926 to Glenn and Jennie (Andrus) Cowan. When Betty was a baby her parents moved to River Falls, WI to an 80 acre farm. Betty attended Liberty Hill School through 3rd grade and Greenwood School through 8th grade. Betty graduated from River Falls High School in 1943 and then attended River Falls College for 1 1/2 years. Betty married Orrin (Bud) House and moved to Pearl Harbor, Hawaii where they both were employed by the U.S. Navy. Bud was a 1st class shipfitter and Betty a stenographer. At the end of the war they returned to Prescott and farmed for many years. Later they purchased Bud’s Bar in Prescott, WI. In 1976 Bud passed away and Betty built a home on the water front. Betty enjoyed the summers on the river and winters in Donna, Texas. Betty was a long time member of the Prescott United Church of Christ. She served on many boards including Prescott City Council, church council, and the Prescott Area Historical Group.
Betty is survived by her children: Sandy Nelson, New Richmond, WI; Diane House, Prescott, WI; Mary House, Prescott, WI; William (Patti) House, Prescott, WI and Roxanne (Tony) Birkel, Ellsworth, WI.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, parents Glenn and Jennie Cowan, son-in-law Stu Nelson; and Grandson Michael House, 2 sisters and 4 brothers.
Funeral services for Betty will be at 11:00am, Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at the Prescott United Church of Christ, Prescott, WI. Burial will be in the Pine Glen Cemetery, Prescott, WI. Friends are invited to gather at the church from 4-8pm on Monday and for one hour prior to the funeral on Tuesday.
