Betty Joan Peiffer

Betty Joan Peiffer, age 80 of Hudson, passed away March 27, 2012 at United Hospital in St. Paul.  Betty was born January 16, 1932 in Valley City, North Dakota; the daughter of Ozwald and Addie (Boisjolie) Peterson.  She attended St. Patrick’s grade school and graduated from Hudson High School.  Betty was united in marriage on August 18, 1951 in Santa Maria, CA to Richard Peiffer.  Their marriage was blessed with four children, Robert, Linda, Richard and Holly.  After raising her children, Betty went to nursing school to become a Registered Nurse.  Betty worked as a registered nurse for many years at Midway and University of Minnesota hospitals and did some private nursing.  She then worked as a realtor for many years in both St. Paul and Hudson. 

Betty loved music and enjoyed playing the organ.  She was a proud member of the Sweet Adelines.  Betty and Richard also enjoyed traveling having; fond memories of their trips to Florida, South Carolina and the Grand Ole Opry.  She fondly talked about working at the Hudson Movie Theater where tickets cost 14 cents!  She often mentioned her mother feeding the “Hobos” that rode in the boxcars, they were always kind and grateful for a bite to eat and never bothered the clean laundry hanging on the line.  Hudson holds many pleasant memories for her.

Betty will remain in the hearts of her husband, Richard; children, Robert (Jene) Peiffer of Myrtle Beach, SC, Linda (Brian) Truesdell of Mendota Heights, Richard Peiffer of Cottage Grove and Holly Jones of Hudson; 9 grandchildren, Ryan Peiffer of Greenville, SC, Brittany Peiffer of New York City, NY, Heather (Kurt) Nathe, Corey Truesdell and Dustin (Tracy) Truesdell of Mendota Heights, Lisa Peiffer of Cottage Grove and Morgan, Mackenzie and Michael Jones of Hudson; 3 great grandchildren, Stella Nathe, Carson and Noah Truesdell; and brother, Dallas James (Carol) Peterson of Northern California.  Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Ozzie and Addie Peterson; and sister, Pat Fletcher. 

 Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00-8:00PM Friday, March 30 at O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson.  Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:30AM Saturday, March 31 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1500 Vine Street, Hudson, with Fr. John Gerritts officiating.  Interment will take place at Willow River Cemetery.  Betty’s grandchildren will lovingly serve as pallbearers. 

Funeral Services have been entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson.
