Betty Lou Slocum, age 89, of River Falls, WI died peacefully on Saturday, November 19, 2016, at Comforts of Home, in River Falls. She was born on January 10, 1927 in River Falls, WI to William and Kate (Ray) Hendrickson. She was a graduate of River Falls High School. On September 27, 1948 Betty was united in marriage to James Slocum at Ezekiel Lutheran Church in River Falls. To this union three daughters were born.

For several years Jim and Betty owned and operated a flooring business. During her lifetime she also was a cook for a local restaurant, and worked for Smead’s for over 20 years.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jim Slocum; daughter, Sherry Hanvelt; two sisters, Violet and Shirley; two brothers, Bob and Reuben.

Betty is survived by her daughters, Cindy (Larry) Testa of River Falls, Connie (Dennis) McAleavey of River Falls; son-in-law, Loren Hanvelt of River Falls; grandchildren, Kelly, Jim, Angie, Brandon, Jeff, Eric, Abbie, Adam, Shane; great-grandchildren, Austin, Elizabeth, Maddie, Philip, Tommy, Ari, Logan, Emma; sister-in-law, Marlene Wells of River Falls; many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for Betty will be held 1:30pm Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Ezekiel Lutheran Church, River Falls with a visitation starting at 12:30pm, also at the church. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, River Falls, WI.
