Bonita Mae Mertens died November 8, 2021 at Comforts of Home in Hudson, WI.

Bonnie was born to Archie and Barbara Nourse on May 19, 1928 in Withee, WI. Bonnie attended Withee schools and graduated from Withee High School in May 1945. On October 27, 1945 Bonnie married Earl Miller. Earl and Bonnie had 2 children, Diane and Mark. Earl and Bonnie made their home in Withee where Earl owned his own milk hauling business and Bonnie was a homemaker. Earl died of cancer in December 1970.

In 1972, Bonnie married Peter Mertens. She moved to Madison where Pete owned a gas hauling business. After retirement, they made their permanent home in Clearwater, FL.

With her wonderful smile and outgoing, fun personality Bonnie made many friends wherever she went. After she moved to Hudson, she played many games of Gin Rummy and won most of the time.

Bonnie will be lovingly remembered  by her children, Diane Crist, Mark (JoAnne) Miller and sister, Sandi Emmerson, grandchildren, Nicole (Brian) Bolduan, Megan (Jason) Schmidt, Tanya (Josh) Bernhard, Justin (Liz) Miller, Shamus (Monika) Miller, Travis (Jessi) Miller and many great grandchildren.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband Earl Miller and later by husband Peter Mertens. Also gone before Bonnie are her parents Walter and Barbara Emmerson, Archie and Ethel Nourse, sister Nelda Lang and brother Bill Nourse.

Bonnie’s family would like to thank Comforts of Home in Hudson for the wonderful care they provided Bonnie for the 8+ years she lived there.

In the spring, Bonnie will be buried next to Earl at Riverside Cemetery in Withee with a celebration of life to follow.
