Bonnie C. Ahlers, age 84, of Hudson, WI passed away peacefully on August 25, 2015, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Bonnie was born on August 6, 1931 in Bushnell, South Dakota, the daughter of Lloyd and Marion (Love) Wilkinson.

She was blessed with six children during the course of her marriage, Georgia Ray, Larry, Gary, Steve, Sherry and Susan. As a devoted single mother she supported her family while putting herself through nursing school at St. Mary’s College, leading to a lifetime passion for nursing.

Bonnie’s caring nature was expressed through her love of gardening and is evident in the expansive and beautiful perennial gardens around her home.

Above everything else family was most important to her. Her dedication to her children and grandchildren was exceptional as she supported and encouraged them in their various pursuits. She was always there for family and friends whenever they needed her.

Bonnie is survived by her children: Larry (Heike) Ahlers of Hudson, WI, Gary (Dawn) Ahlers of Stillwater, MN, Steve (Dianne) Ahlers of Duluth, MN, Sherry (Nathan) Gergen of Hudson, WI, and Susan (Jack) Peltier of Lake Elmo, MN: 18 Grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; siblings Edith (Duane) Rasmussen, Cheri Busson, and Jeannie Nelson. She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter: Georgia Ray; siblings: Gloria, Buck, Donna, Molly, Peggy, and George.

A Memorial Service for Bonnie will be held at 4:00p.m. Thursday, September 3,2015 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 S. 11th St., Hudson with a gathering for family and friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be private. Memorial preferred to the family.
