Brian was kind, caring, and a giving husband and father. Brian was also a smart businessman with much of what he learned attributing to his parents and his education. Brian attended Hillcrest Elementary and then continued to Ellsworth Junior and Senior High Schools where he graduated in 1983. Throughout his education, Brian took many agricultural classes that attributed his life on the farm. He was a member of the Ellsworth FFA and obtained different officer positions during his high school career. His children would later follow in his footsteps. After graduation, he continued his educational studies at Red Wing Vocational School fulfilling an agribusiness degree.

Through his many personal connections within his secondary education, he met the love of his life, Kimberly “Kim” Marie Strain of Byron, MN. Brian and Kim were married on August 18, 1990. Following their marriage, they were blessed with three children who all took an interest in farming and agriculture: Jennifer, Mitchell, and Thomas.

Brian wore many different hats both physically and literally. He lived out his dream occupation of farming in grains, livestock, and dairy production with his two sons: Mitchell and Thomas, his brother Ron as well as his nephews. He even enjoyed various side jobs such as selling Crows/Channel/Jung seed corn where he received many sales awards. Brian was also involved in his community serving in different leadership roles such as the chairperson of the Hartland Township Board and was the current supervisor. He was also a member of the St. Francis parish community. Brian even enjoyed his auctioneer license.

Brian loved farming with his family, visiting with all those who stopped in at the farm, and connecting with friends and family at gatherings of all kinds. Brian enjoyed spending time with his wife doing the little things like grilling, watching movies, or going for a drive. He also enjoyed getting commodity market updates from Jennifer.

Brian loved his family more than anything and will be missed by so many for his infectious laugh and willingness to help anyone who needed it.

Brian is survived by his loving wife – Kimberly “Kim”, his 3 children: Jennifer Webster of Inver Grove Heights, MN; Mitchell (Taylor) Webster of Bay City, WI; and Thomas Webster (Kylie Larsen) of Ellsworth, WI; 6 brothers and sisters, Dr. Rita Webster, PhD, Minneapolis, MN; Dianne (Terry) Foley, Williamsburg, IA; Ronald (Karen) Webster, Ellsworth; Sharon Foley, Albuquerque, NM; Mary Jo (Barry) Kruse, Zumbrota, MN; Bruce (Jill) Webster of Overland Park, KS; his aunts Barb Klecker, Ellsworth; and Mary Socha, Cecil, WI; his father and mother-in-law Duane and Gayle Strain and brothers-in-law Kevin (Kathy) Strain and Kyle (Roni) Strain, many cousins, nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and multiple friends.

  1. We are saddened to hear of your tragic loss. May your faith, prayers of friends & family comfort you during these difficult times. God Bless you all.

  2. May God Bless Brian who will be so much missed by us all. Brian was a guiding light with his warm smile and good outlook on life. He was there to share his time, his outgoing personality and help anyone, especially his family. We will always remember my first cousin Brian as a very special person. Janet and I share our condolences to all of your family. Our prayers are with you. Alan Sukowatey and Janet Johnson

  3. I was at a recent funeral for a friend and the minister in her talk said the following: “Love does not end with death…..it oozes out like oil and gets on everything.”

That was Brian’s love for his family, especially his wife, Kim. His legacy is his children who he loved dearly and helped raise well. His ability to talk to anyone and help them with their problems often made it appear he had none of his own. His generosity to others in the community was evident in his seed business, farming relationships, and service to the Township. There was a genuine kindness about him and solid practicality about all he said and did.

I will miss our talks when I come “home” to Ellsworth to visit from Iowa. Rest in peace my youngest brother, Brian. We will keep you and your family in our prayers! May our Blessed Mother Mary help carry you home to her son, Jesus and may Jesus hold you in the palm of his hand until we meet again in eternity!
    I love and miss you!
    #3 Sibling—-Dianne (Webster) Foley
