Carol J Kongshaug, age 77, of Baldwin, WI, passed away in the early morning on September 7, 2011 at the Baldwin Area Medical Center.

Carol was born on November 11, 1933 to Herbert and Esther (Peterson) Marson in Elmwood, WI.  She grew up and attended school in Woodville, Wisconsin where she graduated from Woodville High School.  She went on to attend Wisconsin State College in River Falls.  It was in November 22, 1958 that Carol was united in marriage to Alfred Kongshaug at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Hammond, WI.  The marriage was blessed with 3 children.  Carol dutifully took on the roll as homemaker and mother while at the same time becoming very active in her church and community.  She was a member of the Baldwin American Legion Woman’s Auxiliary and with her church she was a part of the Ladies Guild, served on the lunch committees and helped with the Vacation Bible School program. She was very much a service person and was always willing to help and support her friends and family.  And independent woman, Carol was known to be like a cat with 9 lives seeming to always come out on top through many of the health issues she delt with through her life.  She was a very good cook and baker and the family looked forward to her canned goods, Christmas cookies and lefse.  She was very skilled with a needle and thread, often making clothing and blankets to give as gifts and even doing repair work for anyone who needed it.  She also took much pride in making baptismal clothing for the babies of the church.  Carol was a Packer fan and a dedicated grandma always keeping in touch with her grandkids no matter the distance.  She was always up for some BINGO, and over the years made it a point to maintain close connections with her friends.  She believed in quality, not quantity, and she had just that.  She touched many lives and left a positive mark wherever she went.

Carol is survived by her; husband, Alfred Kongshaug of Baldwin; children, Mark Kongshaug of Baldwin, Michael (Jeanne Sobottka) Kongshaug of River Falls and Michelle (Larry) Larson of Austin, TX; grandkids, Justin (Ashley) Kongshaug of Silverdale, WA, and Kurt and Jake Larson of Austin TX; brother, Gaynor “Bud” (Mavis) Marson of New Richmond, WI; and sister-in-law, Derith Marson of Baldwin, WI.  She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.

A memorial celebration of Carol’s life will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Hammond, Wisconsin at 1pm.  A visitation will be held for 1 hour prior to the service.  Services are in the care of the O’Connell Family Funeral Home and Countryside Crematory in Baldwin, Wisconsin. 715-684-3434
