Carole Henrietta Rudesill, age 87 of Baldwin, died on Friday, July 18, 2014 at the Baldwin Care Center. Carole was born on July 22, 1926 in Adams County, North Dakota; the daughter of Edward and Valva (Walfoort) Huenink. She grew up in Adams County, attending #7 Elementary School prior to the Huenink’s moving to Baldwin where she graduated from high school. On July 12, 1945, she was united in marriage to Elmer Rudesill at Carole’s parent’s home in Baldwin. She worked many years for William “Bill” Hawley at the Baldwin Bulletin newspaper. In todays technical driven world, we often forget how we got where we are today. Carole was a linotype machine operator which created matrices/molds for letter forms in a process called ‘hot metal’ typesetting which helped print the newspaper. Later in life, She enjoyed her time working for Greenfield Elementary in the kitchen and as a librarian for the Baldwin Library.
Carole’s hobbies and pastimes included painting with oil paints and collecting dolls. When she was older, she found pleasure in calling Bingo at the Baldwin Care Center where she knew many of the residents. One of her more memorable visits was to Devil’s Island (One of the Apostle Islands). Following her visit here, lighthouses became one of her favorite visual memories. She loved her grandchildren and grew close to them through the ups and downs following the painful death of her only child, Lynne Anderson, who died in February of 2001.
Carole is survived by her son-in-law, Floyd Anderson of Baldwin; grandchildren, Becky Anderson (Colin Fitzsimmons) of Baldwin, Chad Anderson (Kim Sandvik) of Farmington, MN; great grandchildren Tony (Ashley), Cayla (Jon), Andrew, Megan, Kennedy and Piper; and sister, Della Hallen of Laurel, Montana. She is preceded in death by her husband, Elmer (2001); daughter, Lynne; brothers, Russell and Edward; and sister, Ellen Hallen.
Funeral Services for Carole will be held at 4:00pm on Sunday, July 27, 2014 at the First United Presbyterian Church in Baldwin. Pastor Janet Ruark will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Baldwin Cemetery. Memorials preferred.
