Catherine Elaine Farrell

Catherine E Farrell,age 99 of Prescott, WI, passed away on Saturday April 15, 2017 at Prescott Nursing and Rehabilitation Community.

Born in El Paso Township Wisconsin on March 20, 1918 to John and Charlottie Farrell.

They then moved to the River Falls, WI area.

Preceded in death by her brothers and sisters: Leo Farrell, Raphael Farrell, Florence Hurja, Rochelle Brochtrup, Imelda Unger, Charlotte Ptacek and Margaret Helen Leon.

She attended River Falls Teachers College and later UW-Whitewater to study Library Science. Catherine taught elementary school and was librarian in Sheboygan WI for 40 years. While in Sheboygan she attended Holy Name Catholic Church and volunteered many hours at St Nicholas Hospital. Her summers were spent in Prescott WI with her sister Charlotte Ptacek and family. Many children learned to tie their shoes and do arithmetic on her visits.

She had a great love of books, playing bridge and cheering on the Packers, Brewers and Badgers.

Catherine traveled the world, spending a year teaching at an Air Force base in Germany, rode a camel in Egypt, kissed the blarney stone, did the hula, went down under and visited the Vatican. Twenty-one countries on three continents.

Catherine was a very caring and loving aunt to many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and great-great nieces and nephews who will miss those smiling Irish eyes very much. As Catherine always said “Come good home”.

In lieu of flowers we ask donations to the Prescott Nursing and Rehabilitation Community or Boys Town.

Mass of Christian Burial for Catherine will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at St. Joseph’s
Catholic Church, Prescott, WI. With visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.

Hill Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Prescott, WI is assisting the family with arrangements.
