Cathy Jacobson

Cathy Joan Jacobson, age 47 of Hudson, WI, lost her battle to cancer on October 25, 2017 at the Mayo Clinic Hospital – Rochester Methodist Campus in Rochester, MN. Cathy was born May 8, 1970 in St. Paul, MN, the daughter of Charles and Joan (Schaar) Wachter. She graduated from Rosemount High School, the Class of 1988. While in school, Cathy was a competitive athlete. She was united in marriage to the love of her life, Bob Jacobson on June 1, 1996 at Trinity Lone Oak Church in Eagan. Their marriage was blessed with two boys, Bradley and Gavin. Cathy worked as an Executive Assistant at US Bank in St. Paul until recent.

Most important to Cathy was her family. She was an amazing and devoted mom and wife, selfless, with a heart full of intensity to support her family. Cathy’s family was blessed with great memories of family vacations, boating, hiking and camping at Willow River together. In her time of relaxation, Cathy enjoyed crocheting. Cathy loved their family pet beagle, B.J., whom brought great comfort to her. She was a proud and supportive hockey and soccer mom, and so wonderful at keeping her family organized. During Bradley’s senior hockey season, Cathy graciously worked as the lead support of the Cancer Awareness game. A few weeks later, Cathy’s world changed, as she was diagnosed with cancer herself. The next year, the Cancer Awareness Hockey game was in her honor as she dropped the puck. Cathy’s passion for life and support for others truly is the legacy she leaves behind.

Cathy will remain in the hearts of her loving husband, Bob; sons, Bradley and Gavin of Hudson; parents, Joan & Charles Wachter of Eagan; brothers, Jeff (Blythe) Wachter of Eleva, WI, and Craig (Dawn) Wachter of New Richmond; Bob’s parents, Sharon Kooiker, step-father, Ken Kooiker, and Arnie Jacobson; along with all of her nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives and dear friends.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, October 30, 2017 at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 14107 S. Hudson Rd., Afton, MN, with Pastor Steven Kramer officiating. Visitation will take place from 3:00 – 6:00 PM Sunday, October 29 at O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 S 11th St., Hudson, as well as one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. A memorial fund has been established for her son’s college educations at US Bank, Cathy Jacobson Donation Fund, c/o Robert S. Jacobson.
