Charles R Andrews

December 19, 1951 — April 22, 2025

Hudson

Charles Raymond Andrews, age of 73, of Hudson, WI passed away on April 22, 2025 at Hudson Hospital. Born on December 19, 1951, in Ilion, NY, to parents Paul and Lila Andrews. Chuck graduated from Herkimer High School in Herkimer, New York in 1970 and earned an associate’s degree from Alfred State University.

Chuck spent his early adult years working as a carpenter and adventuring in California, Hawaii, New Zealand, and skiing the White Mountains in New Hampshire, creating stories and memories that would later grace the family dinner table. He married Deborah Flitcraft on November 26, 1977 in Jackson, New Hampshire. Chuck and Deb shared numerous cross-country adventures. Their first home was in southern California before settling down in upstate New York, where they were blessed with two children.

He began his career at 3M in 1980, traveling throughout New York and New England, forging lifelong friendships. In 1991, Chuck and his family relocated to Hudson, Wisconsin for 3M. He earned his bachelors degree at Cardinal Stritch University and worked at 3M for 38 years. Chuck made lasting contributions and impacted many of his colleagues with his kind and optimistic disposition, his sense of humor, and his ability to make everyone feel like a friend.

Chuck was a devoted family man, sharing in the joys and challenges of his children’s endeavors. He coached his daughter’s softball teams, led his son’s Cub Scout groups, and proudly drove for marching band and Pepperfest parades. He adored his grandson Jack, with whom he loved to read, go on walks, play baseball, and fill bird feeders. His commitment to nurturing the next generation was felt in countless young lives.

A gifted woodworker, knitter, and craftsman, Chuck loved sharing these passions with others. He took great joy in crafting unique walking sticks and canes, furniture making, and knitting — his “hobby of love.” Many of his friends and family use his canes, walking sticks, scarves and hats daily.

Chuck had an extraordinary ability to find positivity in any situation, to tell stories, and to make friends. These traits, his smile, and his strong hugs endeared him to family and friends, and his genuine and heartfelt kindness will always be remembered. Chuck was truly one of “the good ones.”

Throughout Chuck’s courageous two-year battle with pancreatic cancer, the love and support of his family and friends were an uplifting gift. His family would like to especially thank his nurse Devin from Lakeview Hospice, as well as Paityn, his nurse at Hudson Hospital. Both Devin and Paityn provided Chuck with gentle and nurturing care, helping to fill his last weeks and days with peace and comfort.

He is survived by his loving wife Deborah; children Carlie (Tim Pure) Andrews and Mark (Colleen O'Brien) Andrews; grandson Jack; siblings Christopher (Jayne) Andrews, Donald (Toni) Andrews, and Jane Andrews; step mom Eleanor Andrews, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents Paul Andrews and Lila Andrews.
