Charles “Charlie” William Grupe passed away peacefully in Hudson, Wisconsin on November 5, 2019. Charlie was born October 9th, 1936 in River Falls, Wisconsin. He was a lifelong resident of Roberts, Wisconsin. He graduated from Roberts High School and then married his high school sweetheart, Mary. They were married for 63 life-giving years. Charlie worked for Erickson Industries, which was followed by a long and enjoyable career at 3M where he eventually/ultimately retired. Charlie was constantly and consistently active in his community, serving as Mayor and Trustee for the Village of Roberts during the ’80’s through the 90’s. Additionally, he served for many years as a volunteer fire-fighter with the Roberts-Warren Fire Department. Equally as important and impactful to Charlie, was his commitment to the Roberts Lions Club, where he spent over 50 years as a serving member and leader to his local community. Charlie Grupe was well-known as an avid hunter, fisherman, and trapper. The adventure and serenity of his time outdoors, immersed in nature, was where he found the most peace and happiness.

Charlie is survived by his wife, Mary, sister, Sandra White, children: Jamie Grupe (Carolyn), Debbie Harvieux (Scott), Cindy Grupe (Tammy Marlow), Shelly Borgerson (Mike), grandchildren: Candice Sullivan (Dan), Derek Harvieux (Kristin), Makaila Borgerson (Clayton Thompson), Alexandra and Jordan Grupe, Carter and Charli Borgerson, and great-grandchildren: Brylee and Skyler Sullivan, and Sadie and Sophie Harvieux.

He is preceded in death by his father, Charles Grupe Sr., his mother, Avelyn Holme, his brothers: Gordon, Garold, Kermit, Ervin and his sisters: Burneal, Ardith, and Eileen.

A memorial service for Charlie will be at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Roberts Congregational United Church of Christ in Roberts, WI. The visitation will be the night prior on Friday, November, 8 also at Roberts Congregational United Church of Christ from 4-7 pm as well as an hour prior to the service on Saturday. Memorials are preferred to the discretion of the family.
