Charles Sime age 75 of Hudson died unexpectedly Wednesday August 26th, 2015 at the River Falls Area Hospital’s Emergency Room.
‘Charlie’ was born on October 13, 1939 in Colburn Township, Chippewa County, Wisconsin; the son of George and Arla (Moore) Sime. He attended a country school in Colburn Township prior to graduating from Cornell High School. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church. On July 13, 1977, he was united in marriage to Ann Hitz in Hastings, Minnesota. This union would be further blessed with three sons; Bradley, John, and Brian. They lived in Chippewa Falls for twelve years prior to moving to Hudson in 1985. While living in Chippewa Falls, he worked for Shedd Brown Paper Mill as a cutter man on their assembly line. Upon moving to Hudson, he worked for his brother; Mike’s Standard Service, driving tow truck and as a mechanic. They became members of Bethel Lutheran Church where he worked as custodian for ten years before retiring in 2012.
Charlie was a quiet, simple man who appreciated the simple things in life. One of his greatest pleasures was spending time with his boy’s deer hunting near Cornell, fishing the Yellow or Blake Lakes, and camping on the farmstead. He enjoyed his past travels to Jellystone National Park, Wyoming, Montana, and seeing the Redwoods in California. He enjoyed an occasional game of golf, playing a game of cards or euchre, and cheering on his beloved Green Bay Packers. He also took pride in his wood working projects, like picnic tables. He loved gardening and putting up a bumper crop of sweet corn to sell. Earlier in life, he enjoyed building chimneys and putting up pole sheds in and around Cornell.
Charlie is survived by his wife Ann; sons: Bradley Sime of California, John (Julie) Sime of Boyd, WI, and Brian (Michele Hanson) Sime of Boyceville, WI; brothers: Butch (Alice), Ronnie (Carole), Bob (Margaret), Larry (Helen), Russ (Nan), Mike (Alice), and Pat (Ann); sisters: Karen (Dick) Kimball, Kathy (Denny) Gingrass, and Debbie Sime; sister-in-law, Elaine Gueldner; brother-in-law, Norman (Mary Ann) Gralow; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
