Chester Raymond Huppert, 89, entered into Eternal Life on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at Preferred Senior Living in Ellsworth, Wisconsin.
Chester was born on November 2, 1934, the 16th and youngest child of Julius and Mary (Green) Huppert on the family farm. He married the love of his life, Jeanine M Johnson, on August 27, 1957, and they were blessed with four children. Everyone knew when Chester said “Hon” he was referring to Jeanine.
Faith, Family and Farming were everything to Chester. Later he left farming to his sons and tried his hand at bartending, working at the Virginian, before joining the Ellsworth Post Office. He had his own rural route where he worked until his retirement. He took pride in everything he did.
Chester could be seen, back in the day, at Kruse’s Kitchen having coffee with his friends. A new world opened when McDonald’s came to Ellsworth. Mornings would find “Chetty”, as he was known to his best friend, Frank Gruber, having coffee in the morning with whomever was available. Chester loved to socialize, and the guys would meet again in the afternoon to confer on the day’s happenings.
He enjoyed visits from his granddaughters whom he referred to as his “dollies”, taking them for broasted chicken and/or ice cream.
Chester is survived by his children David (Sarah) Huppert of Bay City, Kimberly (Brian) Cooper of Stevens Point, Barbara Huppert of Madison; granddaughters Marie (Chris) Miller of Montello, Amy (Eric) Suchon of Farmington, MN, Allison (Jordan Peterson) Huppert of Bay City; great grandchildren Warren and Greta Miller, Cooper, Fox and Wilder Suchon; sister-in-law Mary (Bill) Boston of Plover, brother-in-law Peter (Jackie) Johnson of Red Wing, MN and many nieces and nephews.
His wife Jeanine, son Jerome and all his siblings preceded him in death.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the following amazing people: Kevin and Patti Huppert, we can’t thank you enough for all the lunch visits and errands run for dad when we couldn’t be there. Mark Matzek for being an amazing neighbor and friend to dad. Deacon John Woehrle for all your visits and sharing your faith with dad. St. Croix Hospice for the excellent care given to dad. Beth Friedrich and the unbelievably caring and compassionate staff at Preferred Senior Living for taking such great care of dad during the four years it was home.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Chester will be at 11:00am on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at St. Francis Catholic Church: 231 W Woodworth St, Ellsworth, WI 54011. A visitation will start at 9:00am until the start of Mass. Chester will be laid to rest at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery.
