Christopher Watters

Christopher Louis Watters, age 69 of Hudson, passed away June 19, 2017 at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center. Chris was born December 5, 1947 in Phoenix, AZ, the son of Benjamin and Elizabeth (Purcell) Watters. Chris graduated from Hudson High School, the Class of 1966, and then furthered his education at the University of Wisconsin – River Falls, obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Business and Journalism. Chris’s outgoing personality made him a successful salesman and business owner. He also proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. On June 13, 1970 he was united in marriage to Susan Dahlby. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Jamie, Chad, and Marcus.

Chris was a man of the outdoors, enjoying the peacefulness of the lake while fishing, and serenity of the woods while hunting with his sons and friends at their cabin. In his earlier years, Chris was a great supporter of his sons by coaching them in hockey and their biggest fan. He shared the love of animals with his daughter, Jamie, as they showed their border collies together around the country in flyball, agility, and herding. He was also fond of a good round of golf and a devoted Green Bay Packer fan, who enjoyed cheering on his favorite team. He had a great sense of humor with a big laugh that would fill the room, and warm the hearts of those around him.

Chris is survived by his loving wife, Susan; daughter, Jamie (Duriel) Johnson of Providence, RI, sons, Chad (Jennifer) Watters of Hudson and Marcus (Kirstin) Watters of Hudson; grandchildren, Reece and Timber; siblings: Stormy (Steve) Redman, twin brother Michael (Rebecca) Watters, Liz Rose, Ben (Susan) Watters, John (Betty) Watters, Sally (Ron) Pray, and Nancy Julian; brother-in-law, Lenny Ramotar; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Katy Watters and Jan Ramotar; and his parents.

A Visitation will take place from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM, with military honors at 12:45 PM, Saturday, June 24 at O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 S. 11th St., Hudson. Private interment will take place at Willow River Cemetery in Hudson.
