Clara Belle St. Ruth

Clara Belle St. Ruth, age 83 of Baldwin died December 21, 2014 at her daughter’s residence in Spring Valley. Clara was born on August 21, 1931 in Albion, IL; the daughter of William & Hattie Cox. She was raised in Illinois where she attended school.

On July 3, 1951, she was united in marriage to Eugene St. Ruth in Evansville, Indiana. This union would be blessed with a daughter Joanne. Sadly, Eugene would precede her in death earlier this year.

Clara was a true southern lady. She took great pleasure in the simple things; like baking and sewing. She sewed bed spreads and canopy sets as well as clothes for Joanne or her Barbies. She was an excellent baker who loved making her famous southern pecan pie. In fact, it was her baking that helped put the Lowell inn on the map with her delicious pies and homemade baked breads and rolls. She also enjoyed crocheting and reading inspirational novels. She had fond memories growing up with her ten siblings; playing dominos was a favorite. She had a touch of class who could brighten any living quarters with her creative interior designing.

She is survived by her daughter, Joanne (Tom) Mueller; grandchildren, Talitha (Milt) Moen and Tom E. (Becky) Mueller; eight great-grandchildren, David, Nathan, Bennet, Cody, Jordan, Tyler, Tristen and Logan; one great-great-grandson, Owen; and other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; ten siblings, and her husband Eugene.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 2, 2014 at the New Life in Christ Church, 1080 7th Ave. in Baldwin. Interment will be at the Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date. Services entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Baldwin, WI and the Countryside Crematory.
