Clifford Schneider

Clifford Jerome Schneider age 84 of Baldwin died peacefully Sunday November 4, 2012 at the Baldwin Area Medical Center. Clifford was born on June 6, 1928 at the family farm in Hammond Township; the son of Bernard and Amanda (Strobush) Schneider. He attended Three Willow Elementary School prior to graduating from the Baldwin High School. On June 7, 1952, he was united in marriage to Lila Aamodt at the Gilman Lutheran Church, rural Spring Valley. This union would be further blessed with six children. Clifford continued his farming as his father did until 1970, when he sold the farm and moved into the village of Baldwin. Shortly there after, he was hired as a cabinet builder by Heebink Lumber. He was a gifted carpenter working there twenty years before retiring from work.

Clifford was an avid sports enthusiast. In his younger years, he had fond memories of playing basketball for the Baldwin Town Team as they played the famed Harlem Globe Trotters. He loved softball. He coached the Pine Lakers 4-H softball team, where they won ten of eleven county championships, and later coached a team in the Mid St. Croix League. His love of sports brought him to be an active Baldwin – Woodville high school sports supporter. With that in mind, he ran the ‘clock’ at BW high school basketball games for 25 years, and was a member of the ‘Chain gang’, high school football field officials, from 1954 to 1991. Furthermore, he was the president of the Quarterbacks Club during the 70‘s, which was comprised of coaches and team members from the Middle Boarder and Dunn/St. Croix football conferences. He had a sound faith and was an active member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church where he served on their church council and trustees when they built their current church. Clifford and Lila raised their children to love, respect, and appreciate their surroundings. They will be missed.
