Colleen Jane Gerner, age 73 of New Richmond, Wisconsin passed away January 21, 2024 with family by her side in New Richmond, WI.  Colleen was born July 16, 1950 to her biological mother Alice Olson in Detroit, Michigan and adopted by age two by her parents Eugene and Dorothy Schumacher.

Colleen was more of a quiet person who enjoyed spending time with her kids and grandkids. She loved the outdoors. When Colleen was married to her first husband, David, she enjoyed rides on the motorcycle, letting the wind blow through her hair. Her second husband Richard kept her busy on ski trips and camping trips, feeding chipmunks at the campgrounds was always a pleasure.  Her favorite job was connecting calls being a switchboard operator in St. Paul.  Later in life, she loved the tranquility of reading, and watching the animals at the bird feeders. Her cats were her world and she was very appreciative being able to stay with them by her side till the end.

Colleen will remain in the hearts of her children Michael Ward, James Zender, Shawn Ward, Destiny Herbert; grandchildren Melody, Matthew, Jade, Brez, Cat, Cheyenne, Haley, D.J., Shelby, Dominic, Asa; great-grandchildren Erica, Xander, C.J., Knight; adopted sister Sue Davidson; biological sister Christina Lelito; and extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Eugene and Dorothy Schumacher; husband Richard Gerner; former husband David Ward; and biological mother Alice Olson.

A private family service will be held.
