Corene Esther Olson, 81, passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2014 at Walker Methodist Westwood Ridge in West St. Paul, MN.She was born on May 27, 1933 to Frederick and Esther (Eggert) Steinke in Colgate, ND. Corene attended Bemidji State University in Bemidji, MN and graduated as an Elementary Teacher. She married Donald Olson on August 9, 1956 and they moved to Silver Bay, MN where Corene taught school, Don worked for Reserve Mining and they started a family. Later, they moved to Bagley, MN where Don worked for Dahl Plumbing and Corene worked as a secretary for many years at Bagley High School. In 2004 they moved to River Falls to be closer to family.Corene enjoyed her time with her family, especially spoiling her granddaughters. She liked quilting, crocheting, bird watching, puzzles and antiques.She is survived by two children; Craig Olson of Owatonna, MN and Lori (Phred) Nelson of Balsam Lake, WI, three grandchildren; Emily, Hannah and Stella Nelson, three sisters; Elaine Steinke, Arlene (Lowell) Stagg and Marlene Kleinke.Corene is preceded in death by her husband, Don, her parents, two sisters; Loraine Lomen and Eilene Larson, three brothers-in-law; Arnold Lomen, Raymond Larson and Ronald Kleinke. Cashman-Hill Funeral Home is assisting the family.
