Memorial Service: Wednesday, September 14, 11:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church, 1901 Vine St., Hudson

Dorothy “Jane” Todd, age 87, resident of Red Cedar Canyon Assisted Living in Hudson, passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2011 at Bethesda Hospital in St. Paul. She was born on March 7, 1924 in London, Ontario, the daughter of William and Ella Isabel (McKay) Purdom. She grew up in Ontario, Canada and graduated from Toronto’s Wellesly Hospital School of Nursing in 1946.

On June 14, 1947 Jane was united in marriage to Peter Todd in London, Ontario. They were blessed with five daughters: Barbara, Elizabeth, Nancy, Isabel, and Victoria. Jane enjoyed raising her daughters while working as an RN. In 1956 the family moved from Canada to Hudson, and then to Fairmont, MN. In 1961, they returned to Hudson. Jane worked as an RN at the Hudson Clinic for 21 years. After their retirement, Jane and Peter made their home in North Port, FL and enjoyed traveling. In 2008, the couple moved back to Hudson.

Jane enjoyed playing bridge, knitting, being involved with the Women’s Club, swimming, golfing, reading, and gardening. Above all, Jane was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother.

Jane will remain in the hearts of her husband of 64 years, Peter; five daughters: Barbara Jane Todd of North Port FL, Elizabeth (TJ) Edwards of Spooner WI, Nancy (Bill) Gilland of Hudson WI, Isabel Barr of Hudson WI, and Tori (Rob) Schultz of Winona MN; 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; siblings, Nancy Duern of Hamilton Ontario, Nora (Bill) Harris of West Hartford CT, and Robert Purdom of London Ontario; extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be held to celebrate Jane’s life at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 14 at the First Presbyterian Church, 1901 Vine St., Hudson. Visitation for one hour prior to the service. Pastor Stephanie Anthony will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Red Cedar Canyon – van fund. Services have been entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home and Countryside Crematory, 715-386-3725.
