Dale Frederick

Dale Eugene Frederick, age 80, of Roberts, Wisconsin died peacefully Friday, March 25, 2011, at his residence at the Baldwin Cottages.  Dale was born on October 1, 1930, on the family farmstead in Woodville, Wisconsin; the son of George and Josephine (Wynveen) Frederick.  Dale attended elementary school in Roberts, and in 1948 graduated from Roberts High School where he played basketball, tuba and excelled in academics.  On January 17, 1953, Dale was united in marriage to Virginia Mae DeMotts at the First Reformed Church in Baldwin, Wisconsin where he was also baptized and confirmed.  This union would be blessed with three children: Deborah Kay, Rodney Dale and Cathy Ann.

Dale’s passion was farming.  He was a farmer and loved every aspect of it.  There was no mechanical nor electrical challenge he would not tackle and solve.  He and Virginia faithfully and lovingly cared for the land for over fifty years.  Throughout the years, Dale enjoyed tilling the land and tending his herds.  Farming nearby his brothers, Kenneth and Wesley, he took great pride in continuing the family heritage.

Along with farming, Dale drove school bus for the St. Croix Central School District for thirty-one years.  For ten years, Dale was a Funk’s G Hybrid Seed Corn salesman.  He also worked at the Roberts Elevator and various carpentry projects.  Dale was chairman of Warren Township for fourteen years.  Dale was a life-long member of the First Reformed Church of Baldwin, Wisconsin, and served as a deacon, elder, Sunday School teacher, catechism teacher, and member of several pastoral search committees.  He loved fishing, playing cards, and his dogs, Triney, Sarah and Keeta.  Dale loved watching sporting events, especially when his grandchildren were participants, and was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan.  He was a mild mannered, patient, Christian who cherished his family.

Dale was a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, great-uncle, and friend.  He will forever remain in our hearts, and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him, especially his best friend, soul-mate, and wife of fifty-eight years, Virginia.  His legacy lives on through his three children Deborah (Mike) Jones of Scandia, Minnesota, Rodney (Marie) Frederick of Cottage Grove, Minnesota, and Cathy (Rick) Arnfelt of Lake Elmo, Minnesota; his seven grandchildren Brian Arnfelt, Michelle (Kyle) Hanawalt, Daniel Frederick, David Frederick, Rebekah Frederick, Jonathan Jones, and Joseph Jones.  Dale is survived by his brother, Wesley (Mary) Frederick of Roberts, sisters/brothers-in-law Roene Frederick, Marjorie Brings, Irvin (Audrey) DeMotts, Doris Merrick, Lucille (Bill) Smith, Lloyd (Shirley) DeMotts, Karen (Ronald) Gilbertson, as well as several nieces, nephews, great nephews and great nieces.  Dale was preceded in death by his parents, George and Josephine Frederick, and brother, Kenneth Frederick.
