Dale L. Vandenberg, age 79 of Inver Grove Heights, MN, formerly of Baldwin, passed away August 15, 2016 at the Woodlyn Heights Health Care Center in Inver Grove Heights. Dale was born September 25, 1936 in St. Paul, MN, the son of Eddie and Theresa Vandenberg. He graduated from Baldwin High School, the Class of 1954. Dale was united in marriage to Rosa Mae Stone on June 7, 1957. Their marriage was blessed with three daughters, Cindy, Denise and Beverly. Dale was a salesman, entrepreneur, and business owner, the highlight and his passion was owning Warren’s Bait Shop in Aitkin, MN for many years.
After retirement in 1996, Dale and Rosa Mae moved to Florida were he enjoyed the sunshine on the golf course, and playing cards, delighting in a good game of cribbage or 500. Dale appreciated collecting toy tractors, and enjoyed his time volunteering at the Paquette’s Historical Farmall Tractor Museum in Leesburg, Florida. Dale was an amazing cook, who made a delicious prime rib dinner for his family for holidays. He especially treasured the peacefulness of being on the lake fishing.
Dale will remain in the hearts of his child bride and wife of 59 years, Rosa Mae; daughters, Cindy Odahlen, Denise (Jeff) Malean, and Beverly (Ray Miller) Sargent; grandchildren: Mary, Rebecca, Hannah (Brett), Samantha (Ches), Megan (Jack), Tessa (Shane), Samuel (Ashley), and Ryan; great-grandchildren: Mikayla, Connor, Rachelle, Jerome, and Matthew. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Celebration of Dale’s Life will take place from 4:00-8:00pm on Thursday, August 18, 2016 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 1010 Newton St., Baldwin. Private interment will take place.
