Daniel Keith Towns passed away on April 30, 2018 at the age of 66 at his home in Hudson, Wisconsin. Dan was born in 1952 in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin and was a graduate of Cornell High School. He went on to carpentry school and had a successful career advancing to Superintendent on many statewide projects such as the St. Croix Valley YMCA and the Jim Falls Dam. He ultimately retired from Madsen Johnson Corporation as General Foreman where he was responsible for many industrial sites and water treatment projects throughout Wisconsin and Minnesota.
Dan enjoyed riding his Harley, fishing trips in Canada, hunting, boating and water skiing, and spending time at his parent’s place on the Chippewa River. Sitting around the campfire with his beloved family was truly his favorite! Besides his love for fishing and the great outdoors, Dan was also an avid bowler, played the trumpet, loved to shoot pool, and travel the country. Dan’s adventures took him on many motorcycle trips around the United States including one with his family to Alaska.
In 1995 Dan met the love of his life, Linda Bubnash. The adventures continued when they embarked on a whirlwind trip across the western states with stops in Montana, California and finally Reno, Nevada where they were married on New Year’s Eve. Dan and Linda settled in Hudson, Wi and, together, built their dream home. They continued their travels to destinations such as Mexico, Florida and Hawaii and, of course, the yearly reunions on the Chippewa. Dan was adored by his nieces and nephews. His nickname was “Dan the Man” which always made him smile. ‘Uncle Dan’ was a gifted story-teller and holidays were filled with tales of his many escapades that the kids loved. From water sports, fishing, billiards, yearly trips to the State Fair, campfires, sleepovers, etc. Dan and Linda doted on their nieces and nephews like no other.
Dan is survived by his father, Martin Towns (92), and mother, Thelma (Arneson) Towns (91); wife, Linda [Bubnash] of 23 years; sister, Susan (Towns) LeCleir (Richard) of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota and sister, Sherri (Towns) Davis (Rick) of Hobe Sound, Florida; brother, David Towns of Stuart, Florida, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dan was the kind of person that would help anyone out that needed it. His heart was golden! He was very close to his family and will be truly missed by his wife, parents, siblings, nieces, nephews, and friends.
