Darlene “Tootie” Jessie Atherton, age 76, of Diamond Bluff, WI passed away April 8, 2015 at the Ellsworth Care Center in Ellsworth, WI. She was born March 15, 1939 in Red Wing, MN to Wilber and Jessie (Bryant) Raebel. On July 9, 1960 she was united in marriage to Charles “Chuck” John Atherton at the Little Brown Church in Iowa. Tootie was a cook for many years at local restaurants.

Tootie enjoyed reading. In her younger years she enjoyed traveling, visiting South America, New York, Colorado, Louisiana as well as other places, before putting roots down again in Diamond Bluff. She stopped traveling when Chuck died.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Wilber and Jessie, husband, Chuck and an infant sister.

Tootie is survived by 2 sons, Pat “Huggy” Atherton (wife, Maureen) and Brian Atherton (significant other, Miki Studer) both of Diamond Bluff, WI; grandson, Steven Atherton (wife, Melissa “Missy”) of Diamond Bluff; great-grandchildren, Blake, Cody, Alex, Serena, Steve. She is further survived by 2 brothers, Dick Raebel (wife, Beth) of Baldwin, WI and Terry Raebel of Diamond Bluff; neighbor and close friend, Audrey Gilbertson, of Diamond Bluff; also many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Memorial service 11:00 AM Thursday, April 16, 2015 at Hill Funeral Home, Ellsworth, WI. Visitation will be 9:00-11:00 AM. Private family interment at a later date in Diamond Bluff Cemetery.
