Darroyl “D.J.” Newcomer

Darroyl “D.J.” Newcomer, age 81, of Hudson, WI, passed away peacefully at home the afternoon of Friday, March 19, 2021 with his beloved wife by his side. D.J. was born on March 31, 1939 in Bernie, Missouri to parents James & Carrie Newcomer. He grew up alongside his four siblings in Missouri, & he still has many family members there. At the ripe age of 17, Darroyl decided to join the U.S. Air Force. He was enlisted from 1956-1960 before returning to civilian life, & marrying his sweetheart, Kay Palmsteen, on October 29, 1960 in East Farmington, WI. The pair settled down in Hudson, WI, & have spent the entirety of their 60-year marriage in the area. D.J. spent most of his working career driving truck for Central Wisconsin Lines, but he was also a proud E.M.T. & spent 13 years with N. St. Paul Fire & Rescue. Darroyl was an active member of the Local 120 Teamsters for 18 years as well. Outside of work, he & Kay loved camping & went on countless trips together over the years. D.J. also had a motorcycle, & often took advantage of pleasant weather by taking Kay out on the bike out for a nice, long ride. He will be missed dearly by those who were blessed to have him in their lives; but they will take comfort that D.J’s independent & free spirit is now at peace with his Lord.
Darroyl will remain in the hearts of his beloved wife, Kay; brother, Eugene “Butch” Newcomer; sisters-in-law, Sharon Newcomer, Deb Palmsteen, & Bev Palmsteen; brother-in-law, David Palmsteen; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, & neighbors. He was preceded in death by his parents, James & Carrie Newcomer; sister, Melba Linville; brothers, James “Bud” Newcomer, & Davey Newcomer; parents-in-law, Cecil & Joyce Palmsteen; & brothers-in-law, Lyle Palmsteen, & Tom Palmsteen.
