David Beying

David George Beying, age 76 of Prescott, WI, passed away August 11, 2020 at his daughter’s home surrounded by his loving family.  David was born August 26, 1943 in Hastings, MN to Richard and Florence (Freese) Beying.  He attended Hastings High School.  On September 15, 1962, David was united in marriage to Joan Kittilson at the United Church of Christ in Prescott.  Their marriage was blessed with 57 years and two daughters, Elizabeth and Sheila.  David worked as a boiler operator and in maintenance at the Ashland Refinery.

Outside of his working career, David had a love for horses and continued that passion while raising his daughters.  He was most proud of his family, cherishing his time with his daughters and grandchildren, and recently overjoyed meeting his new great-grandson.  He enjoyed music of all genres and delighted in singing and playing the harmonica.  David was a great story teller and jokester, who brought smiles and laughter to those around him.  David will be lovingly remembered for his welcoming heart for others, always finding meaningful ways to connect with strangers, who quickly became friends.

David will remain in the hearts of his daughters, Elizabeth (Miguel Regino) Beying of Inver Grove Heights, MN and Sheila (Joe) Mancl of Prescott, WI; grandson, Michael (Amanda) Blattner; adored great-grandson, Henry Blattner; granddaughter, Sarah (Travis Lockling) Blattner; step-grandchildren, Joe (Jennifer Riley) Mancl, Jeremy (Karen Knutson) Mancl, Matt (Tiffany) Mancl; step great-grandchildren, Riley, Matthew, Bella and Taylor; siblings, Stephen (Fran) Beying of Hastings, MN, Duane (Karen) O’Brien of Ellsworth, WI, Charlie O’Brien of Woodville, WI, and Diana Beying of Hastings, MN; many dear nieces and nephews; and lifelong friends, Fred and Sharon Mercord.  He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joan; father, Richard Beying; mother, Florence O’Brien; and step-father, Carl O’Brien; and great-granddaughter Ava Mancl.

A Memorial Gathering honoring David’s Life (with respect to social distancing and encouraging the use of masks) will take place 12:00 Noon – 4:00 PM Sunday, August 30, 2020 at the Old Ptacek’s Event Center, 1449 Orrin Rd, Prescott, WI.  Memorials in remembrance of David may be directed to your favorite charity, or David’s favorites – The American Cancer Society, The Alzheimer’s Association or St. Jude’s – Children’s Research Hospital.  Private interment will take place at a later date at Pine Glen Cemetery in Prescott.
