David Frank Genova, age 48, of Baldwin, WI, died suddenly on July 8, 2011 at United Hospital in St. Paul, MN, surrounded by his family and close friends.
David was born on February 22, 1963 to Phillip and Audrey (Akers) Genova in New Castle, PA. Dave graduated from the Lawrence County Vocational Technical High School in 1981 and went on to obtain his Associate’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering at Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics. In 1987 Dave met Barb Moore and the two began dating. On November 10, 1990 they were united in marriage in Mt. Jackson, PA. The young couple then relocated to the Minneapolis / St. Paul area for Dave’s job as airplane mechanic for Northwest Airlines, where he worked for 15 years. Dave worked as a mechanic for 21 years.

Dave was a godly man who daily demonstrated his strong faith in Jesus Christ to those around him, through being available to friends and family as cook, baker, mechanic or whatever the need without reserve. Their home was a haven of hospitality to anyone who would pass through their doors, which was promptly followed by the question, “Are you hungry?” Dave’s motto was, “Food equals love.” He cherished his wife, Barb and five children; Celia, Samuel, Gabriel, Daniel and Julia. Whenever Dave was asked what brought him joy, without hesitation, Dave would always answer, “Spending time with my family.”

David is survived by his; wife of 21 years, Barbara; children, Celia (14), Samuel (9), Gabriel (6), Daniel (6) & Julia (4); parents, Phillip and Audrey (Akers) Genova of Pittsburgh; siblings, Mike (Kellie) Genova of Pittsburgh, Paul (Norma) Genova of Pittsburgh, Sharon (John) Zerbe of Pittsburgh, and Doug (Paula) Genova of Akron, OH; father-in-law, Sylvester Moore of Lynchburg, VA, brothers-in-law, Randy (Tamara) Moore of Minnetonka, MN and Allan (Gayle) Blount of Lockport, NY; sisters-in-law, Laurie Midkiff of Lynchburg, VA and Lee (Peter) Torok of Lockport, NY. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

A Funeral Celebration of David’s life will be held on Monday, July 11, 2011 at 11 o’clock am at Bible Baptist Church in North Hudson, WI, where he and his family have faithfully served the Lord for 10 years. Burial will follow at Willow River Cemetery in Hudson. Pastor Mark Shore, of Bible Baptist Church, will be officiating. A visitation will be held for 1 hour prior to the service on Monday as well as on Sunday, July 10, 2011 from 4-6pm all at the church. Memorials are preferred in leiu of flowers.
