David L. Boles

David Lee Boles, age 65 of Somerset WI died peacefully on Saturday, May 16, 2015 after a courageous fight with medical issues, surrounded by family.

David was born on June 18, 1949 in River Falls, Wisconsin; the son of Douglass and E. Shirley (Mueller) Boles. He was raised in River Falls where he enjoyed sports and music. He played high school football and baseball. Through high school and beyond the trumpet. Dave graduated River Falls High School 1967.

David played the trumpet with the Eau Claire Jazz ensemble and the Eau Claire College Orchestra. He also played in many churches. David even played with the Tommy Dorsey band for a short stent. David was united with the love of his life Carol (Simpson) Boles June 1970. They met during the 1965 floods when Dave hit her with a shovel sandbagging.

Dave and Carol were blessed with many nieces and nephews who they would vacation with to places like the Drum Core International, City Band Concerts, Paul Bunyan Logging Camp, Lambeau Field and others. Singing in the car all the way. Dave helped a few learn to drive. Dave is a favorite Uncle to many generations of nieces and nephews and he always enjoyed having them around.

Dave was an avid golfer, and enjoyed playing on some of the world’s finest courses including Pebble Beach, and St. Andrews.

Dave enjoyed cooking. Spending many years as a cook. Many of his later years he enjoyed baking banana bread for all his friends and family. David was a true Packer Fan through and through.

David was preceded in death by his parents Doug and Shirley Boles, In-laws Lynos and E. Ida Simpson, and brother-in-law Jerry Simpson. He is survived by his wife Carol, Brother Doug and Yvonne (Heuer) Boles, Sister Deborah Boles, many, many nieces and nephews.

Services will be handled by The River Community Church (of which he is a founding member), and be held at 5:00 pm on Thursday May 21, 2015 at Mt. Zion Church, 505 13th St. Hudson WI. 54016. Dinner and celebration will follow.
