David L. Fowler, age 72, passed away Monday, July 2, 2018, in New Richmond, WI. He was born August 16, 1945, the son of John and Frances (Bries) Fowler. David grew up in St. Croix Falls, WI and attended school at the St. Croix Falls Wisconsin High School, where he graduated with the Class of 1963. He graduated from Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College – Rice Lake Campus, and was employed shortly thereafter by Domain Industries as a machinist. David eventually moved onto the 3M Corporation, where he held tenure as a machinist for 40 years. In 1967, David was drafted into the service of the United States Army; he was proud to serve his country for two years during the Vietnam War until his honorable discharge in 1969. He was a faithful member of First Lutheran Church for over 30 years. David and his family are currently members of Trinity Lutheran Church of Hammond, WI.

On December 9, 1978, David was united in marriage to Becky Burch; he always supported and made it possible for her to follow her interests. He took a keen interest in his children, continuing to stand by their side. Their marriage was blessed with two children: Jamie and Ryan. He has taken pride in all their many accomplishments. He especially approved of their choice of spouses, and couldn’t be more proud of his grandkids; he was an exceptionally loving Papa.

Although Dave had many interests in life, his passion and gift was found in wood carving. He carved for over 30 years and was a Gold Medal Carver at the Vesterheim Museum in Decorah, Iowa. He received numerous ribbons and high honors in other events that he participated in. He generously shared his carving knowledge and he appreciated many woodworking friends, both young and old.

Left to mourn his death are his wife, Becky Fowler; daughter, Jamie (Bradley) McCulloch; son, Ryan (Michele Gomulak); grandchildren, Madyson, Payton, and Bo McCulloch, as well as Keely and Raylan Fowler; siblings, Sherry (David) Thiel, LaVonne (Gary) Johnson, Dennis (Karen) Fowler, Loren Fowler, Kord (Becky) Fowler; mother-in-law, Irene Burch; brother-in-law, David Burch; numerous extended family members and countless friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Frances Fowler; brother, Bradly Fowler; sister, Gayle Fowler Tinney; father-in-law, Julian Burch; brothers-in-law, Paul and Richard Burch.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 2-4 PM on Sunday, July 8, 2018, at Trinity Lutheran Church of Hammond, WI, followed by a Memorial Service for David at 4. Services have been entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Baldwin, WI.
