David Peabody

David Russell Peabody, age 77, of Hudson, WI, passed away on June 14, 2020 at his home. David was born on November 7, 1942 in St. Paul, MN, to parents Russell and Delphine (Larson) Peabody. After graduating from Harding High School in 1960, he became a machinist at Haberman Machine, which was owned and operated by Raymond Haberman.; his father-in-law. He worked for 13 years as a machinist working up to manager. He also owned Peabody’s Pub and Roberts Café for a short time before returning to machine work. He was married to Janice Haberman on June 30th 1962, this union was blessed with 2 daughters.

David loved to be outdoors and watch the changing of the seasons. He partook in almost every outdoor activity you could think of, including camping, canoeing, hiking, and both downhill and cross country skiing. The family loved visiting state and national parks, including Yellowstone, Glacier as well as many around Wisconsin. Many memories were made around bon fires on the campground. He spent much of his time on or in the water either scuba diving in Square Lake, Cazelmel, and Hawaii. His greatest passion was sailing. He took the greatest pleasure sailing the St. Croix River and Bayfield on Lake Superior. He created many friends in his vintage car club as he owned a 1952 Chevy fastback. Most recently, he enjoyed WWII history and their planes.

He will remain in the hearts of his wife Jan; daughters Dawn (Chad) Holldorf of Baldwin, WI, Christine (Tim) Haas of Roseville, MN; six grandchildren Trisha (Nate) Stork, Tara Sosinsky, Mark (Kristi) Haas, Rebecca Haas and Daniel Haas; six great grandchildren Venizaiya Stork, Giovonni Stork, Vincent Stork, Rocoo Stork, Brantley Sosinsky and Bo Sosinsky; siblings Joel Peabody, Diane Sterio, Duane (Sue) Peabody, Lynette Patzoldt, Richard (Rosa) Larson, Kevin Larson and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Sarah, brothers-in-law Otto Patzoldt, and John Sterio.

A Celebration of Life for David will be on Thursday, June 25th 5-7PM at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in North St. Paul. Memorials are preferred to Mayo Clinic Rochester Melanoma Cancer Research Center
